If you are outsourcing for the first time, then you will naturally have some anxiety about whether the person you are entrusting your budget with is giving you the most they can really can give you.

Whilst it’s true that there are a few rouge players out there, it is also true that there are a great deal of honest people around waiting to give you what you need for your pound.

A good consultant will outline budget with you at the very beginning and decide whether or not the work you are offering is worth their time. At this stage it is important to not feel angry or upset if they quote you prices that you really cannot handle. If a consultant is making hundreds of pounds a day – fair play to them! Let them go and keep shopping for one that works for you.

What you should never, ever do – is settle for less. Just because you have a teeny budget, it doesn’t mean that you should get a teeny service. All you need to do is continue to shop around until you find the company, person or service that gives you what you need: and makes you feel good at the same time.

Whenever you are paying for a service: you are a customer. And you should be treated like a customer. Never resign yourself to poor treatment or regular errors just because you are getting a bargain, and feel free to highlight any gaps or flaws in the service that you are receiving.

A cheaper service simply means that you should have less posh paper, maybe a less nice office space to visit and potentially no printed annual mail outs and a smaller team. But a smart company will help you grow regardless of the money that you are spending, and how you are treated is an indicator of their honesty, their integrity and their commitment to honoring you as a valued customer.
